Media representatives and professors gathered for a workshop to define methods of collaboration and to begin to set Armenia’s research agenda as it relates to the country’s geopolitical challenges –  what are the urgent questions that need to be asked and answered?

The 2020 Karabakh War triggered a debate within Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora about the reasons for the war and the defeat. Next to the military and political failures several voices emerged about the reasons why Armenia’s political thinking failed to see the coming danger, and why within Armenia’s institutions – state, academic, research and media – there was a paralysis to understand global trends and articulate necessary answers.

The workshop served as a space to define the strategic questions that researchers, policymakers, and young scholars can investigate in the coming months and years.

The program was organized by the USC Institute of Armenian Studies in collaboration with Dr. Cheterian and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
