“Life and Freedom: An autobiography of ex-President of Armenia and Karabakh” by Robert Kocharyan (Alpina Book, 2018) has been released in Russian with the Armenian language version expected soon. The book is 500-some pages and is available in print and electronically through major booksellers.
The book comprises three unequal parts: Peaceful Life (about 50 pages), Karabakh (about 170 pages) and Armenia (about 250 pages). Individual chapters are dedicated to the Karabakh-Armenia unification movement, war in Karabakh, move to Armenia, the October 27, 1999 attack on Armenian parliament, peace negotiations with Azerbaijan, Kocharyan’s decision to retire from politics, the clashes that followed 2008 presidential elections and the life after presidency.
In the prologue to the book Kocharyan writes that he was convinced to write the book by consultant Mark Rosin, who works with AFK Sistema, a Russian business group, where Kocharyan serves on the board as an independent director. According to the author, after starting the book “I quickly regretted that decision, but had to finish what I started..”
