Workshop on Armenian Turkish Scholarship (WATS) 2015Share:
The USC Institute of Armenian Studies partnered with the University of Michigan and Istanbul’s Sabanci University to support the WATS 2015 conference in Istanbul. WATS — the Workshop on Armenian Turkish Scholarship — was founded at the University of Michigan as the first fforum where Turkish, Armenian and other historians could conduct an informed debate about the genocide of the Ottoman Armenian community in 1915-16.
More than 20 scholars from Turkey, Armenia and around the world, participated in the three-day workshop — the biennial WATS conference — entitled “Critical Approaches to the Armenian Genocide: History, Politics, and Aesthetics.”
