Members of the Congressional Armenian Caucus lobbied the House Appropriations Committee to continue U.S. funding for demining programs in Artsakh that the State Department said has been concluded in Fiscal Year 2021, the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) reported on June 23.

Reps. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) provided a video testimony, and Reps. Judy Chu (D-Calif.), David Cicilline (D-R.I.), Jim Costa (D-Calif.), T.J. Cox (D-Calif.), John Garamendi (D-Calif.), Jim Himes (D-Conn.), Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.), Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) submitted testimonies in writing.

Reps. Chu and Costa previously weighed in on the program during House Foreign Operations Subcommittee consideration. Together with Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), Rep. Chu visited the U.S.-funded deminers in Nagorno Karabakh last year.

Last February, the ANCA called for $100 million aid package to Armenia in FY2021, including $10 million for Artsakh.
