Heavy fighting continued in the vicinity of Shushi, as well as in directions of Berdzor and around Martuni, the Defense Army reported. In the past week, Turkish-backed Azerbaijani forces have been trying to capture Shushi and cut off one of the two main roads linking Stepanakert with the Republic of Armenia. There were reports of missile fire against Stepanakert and other Karabakh locations. According to Armenian defense ministry’s Artsrun Hovannisyan things remained relatively quiet on Syunik and Tavush borders.

In Moscow, Russian president Vladimir Putin again discussed the situation in Karabakh with members of his Security Council. Putin also talked about Karabakh in a phone conversation with French president Emmanuel Macron. Putin in particular expressed “concern about continuing large-scale fighting and growing involvement of extremists, who are arriving from Syria and Libya.”
